Through the ESSI Programme (European Systems and Software Initiative) for Software Best Practice in Europe, the European Commission has funded more than 300 Process Improvement Experiments (PIES). These experiments introduce proven methods and tools into the software processes of organisations of all types throughout Europe. EUREX has been set up to analyse the industrial and economic impact, the commonalities and differences in the experiences of these 300 PIEs. To this end, the PIEs have been clustered into subject domains. For a representative set of such domains the experience gained by the participating PIEs will be collected and consolidated at a set of European workshops.
